Easy Fried Rice Recipe:
Fried rice is a versatile dish that can be made in a matter of minutes and is perfect for using up leftover rice and vegetables. This easy fried rice recipe is not only delicious but also a great way to create a satisfying meal with minimal effort. Let’s get started!
For the Fried Rice:
2 cups cooked rice (preferably cold, day-old rice works best)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or any cooking oil)
1 small onion (finely chopped)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, bell peppers, etc.)
2 eggs (beaten)
2-3 tablespoons soy sauce (adjust to taste)
1-2 green onions (chopped, for garnish)
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: Cooked chicken, shrimp, or tofu for added protein
Preparation Method
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
If you haven’t done so already, chop all your vegetables and have them ready. Make sure your cooked rice is cold and clump-free for best results.
Step 2: Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Step 3: Sauté Onions and Garlic
Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until it becomes translucent. Then, add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds, being careful not to burn it.
Step 4: Add Mixed Vegetables
Stir in the mixed vegetables and cook for another 2-3 minutes until they are tender.
Step 5: Scramble the Eggs
Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet. Pour the beaten eggs into the other side and scramble them until fully cooked. Once done, mix the eggs with the vegetables.
Step 6: Add the Rice
Add the cold, cooked rice to the skillet. Break up any clumps and mix it well with the vegetables and eggs.
Step 7: Season the Rice
Pour the soy sauce over the rice and mix thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If you’re adding any cooked protein (like chicken, shrimp, or tofu), add it at this stage and mix well.
Step 8: Garnish and Serve
Remove the skillet from heat and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve your easy fried rice hot, either as a main dish or as a side.
Tips for Perfect Fried Rice
Use Day-Old Rice: Freshly cooked rice tends to be too moist and sticky, making it difficult to fry. Day-old rice is drier and works best.
High Heat: Cooking on high heat allows the rice to fry properly and gives it a nice texture.
Customize: Feel free to customize your fried rice with any vegetables or proteins you have on hand.
