Delicious Date Halwa Recipe
Sweet, Nutritious, and Perfect for Winter!
If you’re looking for a healthy yet indulgent dessert, this Date Halwa Recipe is the perfect choice. Rich in natural sweetness and packed with nutrients, date halwa is an ideal treat for winter. It’s easy to make and requires just a few simple ingredients. This traditional dessert is not only delicious but also provides warmth and energy, making it a favorite during colder months.
1 cup seedless dates (soaked in warm water for 30 minutes)
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)
2 tablespoons sugar (optional, depending on sweetness of dates)
1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Dates:
After soaking the dates in warm water for 30 minutes, drain the water and grind the dates into a smooth paste using a blender.
2. Cook the Date Mixture:
Heat the ghee in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Add the date paste and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
3. Add Milk and Sweeten:
Slowly add the milk while stirring the date mixture to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens again. If your dates are not sweet enough, you can add sugar at this stage. Stir well to combine.
4. Add Nuts and Flavoring:
Mix in the chopped nuts and cardamom powder. Continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes, allowing the halwa to absorb all the flavors. The nuts will give it a lovely crunch, while the cardamom adds a beautiful aroma.
5. Serve:
Once the halwa reaches your desired consistency, remove it from the heat. Garnish with a few more chopped nuts on top and serve warm.
Tips:
You can adjust the sweetness by adding or skipping sugar, depending on the sweetness of your dates.
For a richer taste, you can add a tablespoon of condensed milk along with regular milk.
This halwa can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week in the refrigerator.
